James
Ainscough was born around 1867 in Blackrod and was the son of James
Ainscough (1843) and Mary Ann Waring. He was the grandson of William
Ainscough (1816). In 1871 he was aged 4 and was living in Cock Tavern
Yard, Blackrod. In 1881 he was aged 14, was a drawer in a coal mine
and was living in Little Scotland, Blackrod. In 1891 he was living
at 22 Little Scotland in Blackrod and was a miner aged 25. He married
a woman called Mary - probably Mary Ann Ollerton - in 1889. In 1901
he was aged 34, was working as a coal miner hewer and was living at
99 Lower Ground, Standish with Langtree.
