John
Ainscough was born around 1839 in Chorley and was the son of William
Ainscough (1816) and Fanny Holding. In 1841 he was aged 2 and, as
John Ainscow, was living at Red Rock Bridge in Arley. In 1851 he was
aged 12, was working as a drawer in a coal mine and was living at
Canal Row, Haigh. In early 1861 he was working as a coal miner and
lodging in the household of William Ince in Bridgewater Street, Ince.
John married a Pemberton girl called Alice Baines - in 1861. In 1871
he was living in Goose Gree, Pemberton. In 1881 he was aged 42, was
a coal miner and was living 2 Little Lane in Pemberton. In 1891 he
was aged 52, was a coal miner and was living at 171 Enfield Street
in Pemberton. In 1901 he was aged 62 and was living at 141 Enfield
Street, Pemberton.
