Ainscough was born in 1756 and christened (as James Ainscowe) on 21st
March 1756 in Chorley. He was possibly the son of Thomas Ainscough
(b.1734) and Eleanor. He probably married Ann Winstanley around 1779,
but the family as shown below is a theoretical reconstruction based
on raw data in the International Genealogical Index. One fact is sure:
a James Ainscough was the father of Ralph Ainscough born in 1782.
