Imin
Ainscough 1924 |
Imin
Ainscough was one of the seven daughters of my great-grandfather,
George Ainscough, and his wife, Mary Ellen Winward. The name
Imin is unusual nowadays but, like many other names, had a vogue
in the early 19th century. She was named after an Imin in the
Mangnall family - Mary Ellen Winward's mother was called Emma
Mangnall. This photograph - taken in 1924 when she was aged
18 - gives a fascinating picture of the hairstyle of the 1920s. |
