Benjamin
Ainscough was born in Pemberton around 1871 and was the son of John
Ainscough (1839) and Alice Baines. He was the grandson of William
Ainscough (1816). In 1881 he was living at 2 Little Lane in Pemberton.
In 1891 he was single, working as a coal miner and was living with
his parents at 171 Enfield Street, Pemberton. He married Mary Alice Woolley in 1891. In 1901 he was living 198 Newton Road, St. Helens,
and working as a colliery ventilation fireman.
