The Zoom has several facilities, including "jam", which allows a free-play and mix of up to 4 simultaneous sounds. Individual bars can be used as is or programmed, and programmed or standard bars can be combined into songs. The problem with all drum machines is that they sound very mechanical. I use the Zoom in its entirety when I want a quick'n dirty backing. For more sophisticated drums, I just use the Zoom for a backing pulse, then add individual drums by hand with the Korg.
