I've always preferred Macintoshes to Windows-based machines, though they get closer in look and feel with each new model. The Mac Book Pro (15" model) uses the double Intel chip and the software includes the iLife suite of programs, including iMovie and iDVD. These two allow the owner to create reasonable quality videos and burn them in both US and European formats to DVD. Getting into this territory requires the maximum processing power you can get for the Mac, and some external drive on which to archive the material - video needs a lot of drive space and takes a long time to process!
