The
Widewater lagoon is a natural lake sandwiched between the beach and the
coast road near Lancing. The lagoon acts as a flood reservoir
for high tides and is a wildlife reserve. The houses on the lagoon side
have their fronts on the main coast road and their backs on the lagoon.
The block of flats at the end of the lagoon was once the site of one of
the first film studios in England, and you can look north over the
house roofs to the chapel of Lancing College at the foot of the downs. Click on a
