I
worked in Eastbourne for nearly 20 years and often took a lunchtime
stroll along the seafront from the Meads in the west to the pier in the
town centre. The pier features in these photographs - the main pavilion
had burnt down in a fire some weeks before. Luckily, the main body of
the pier was unharmed, and work is currently taking place to
reconstruct the damaged building while the pier is still open to the
public. The dome on the end of the pier contains one of Sussex's two
camera obscuras. Click on a thumbnail to display
