Letter 31: 6th November 1885- from William Broughton

Edgefield Nov 6, 1885

Dear Brother Just a few lines to you hope to find you quite well athank God it leaves me and my wife at present we are like you we are getting old now we are 70 I am sorry I did not rite before but we rote a letter and forgot to send we have been expecting a letter from you all this time till other day we see the letter we hope you are all well our best loves to you all I am sorry to say my daughter have been dead 2 years this month we were sorry to hear you did not know any thing about George I think myself he must be dead or else I think some of you would have hear of him is 20 years it is a long time we hope you will rite soon as you can it is such a long time since we had a letter from you corn is selling cheap here now flour is only 1 and 3 a stone we are all agoing to give a vote this year & every one that is a house holder there are the liberals and tories we shall all vote for a cheap loaf we are haven a wonderful lot of rain here now we had a midderlen harvest not very hot Dear brother we should like to see you all but as you say you think the journey would be too much for you it is such a long way but it don’t take more time than a week to go I don’t think I have any more to say this time so I remain your loving brother William good by and may God bless you all rite soon
