Armina Purdy was the daughter of Robert Purdy (1829) and Ann Maidstone, and was born in Burnham Sutton in 1869. In 1871 she was living in Burnham Sutton. In 1881 she was working as a cotton weaver and was living with her parents in Fern Hill Terrace, Newchurch, Lancs. In 1891 she was living with her widowed mother at 161 Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, Bacup and was a cotton weaver. In 1901 she was living with her mother at 10 Plantation Street, Bacup. She married T. Shawcross.
