James Houchen was baptised on 7th May 1845 in Hingham and was the son of Edmund Houchen (1804) and Mary Parfoot. In 1851 he was living in Hingham. He died on 30th June 1856 and was buried in St Andrew's churchyard, Hingham on 3rd July.
