Thomas Houchen was the son of Charles Houchen (1817) and Susan Clarke. He was born in March, Cambridgeshire, in 1847. In 1851 he was living at Whittle End, Cambs. The family emigrated to America sometime before 1861. Thomas married Adia A. Watson in Marion on 3rd July 1879. In 1880 he was living in the household of James Williams in Colorado Springs. He married again, on 21st July 1898, to Mrs Emma A Tweed.
