Charles Pomfrey was born in Colney in 1890 and was the son of Charles Pomfrey (1862) and Mary Allison. In 1891 and 1901 he was living in the forge, London Colney, Shenley, Herts. In 1911 he was living at the forge and working as a house painter. He married Bessie French in the St. Albans district in 1913.
