Maria Eke was born in 1823 and was the daughter of William Eke (1768) and Rosamund Bullock. She married William Davison in 1872. From 1851 to 1871 she was working as a shopkeeper in Corpusty in the household of Robert Platten - probably her stepfather, and was listed there in 1841. In 1881 she was living at Swanton Hill, Swanton Abbott. In 1891 she was a widow and living with her sister Hannah at The Lawn, Saxthorpe.
