Newton Eke was born in 1840 in Corpusty and was the son of Jonas Eke (1803) and Martha Reynolds. In 1841 and 1851 he was living with his parents in Corpusty. In 1861 he was visiting the household of policeman William Aldis in Blickling Road, Aylsham, and working as a carpenter. He married widow Margaret Usher in Hartlepool in 1876. In 1881 he was living at 3 Brunswick Place in Stranton, West Hartlepool, and working as a labourer. In 1891 he was working as a timber labourer and living at 33 Thomas Street, Stranton. He died in 1899.
