John Riesberry was born in Edgefield in 1819 and was the son of Thomas Robert Riseborough (1798) and Sarah Broughton. He married Mary Brown and they had twins. After she died, he married Elizabeth A. Little. He died on 7th February 1911 and his obituary was printed in the Woodstock Sentinel Review, February 14th . John and Elizabeth had eight children: Robert John (1863), Annie Elizabeth Sophia (1864), Albert Arthur (1867), William Henry (1870), Ernest Edmond (1872), Sarah Jane Edith (1875), Alice Victoria (1877) and Mabel Mary (1879).
