Ellen Martha Riesberry - known as Helen - was born in Brampton, Ontario, on 20th April 1841 and was the daughter of Thomas Robert Riseborough (1798) and Sarah Broughton. She married Henry Hewitt on 5th February 1860 and died in Plattsville on 9th November 1920. Ellen and Henry had nine children: Elizabeth (1862), Mary Adeline (1864), Georgina (1867), William Silas (1869), Sarah Jeanetta (1871), Alice Rosetta (1873), James Wesley (1876), Tamar Ellen (1877) and Frederick Robert (1879).
