Ellen Haste was born in 1904 in Ipswich and was the daughter of Charles H. Haste (1873) and Minnie Woods. She married Walter Charles Broughton in Ipswich in 1929. She was the daughter-in-law of Lemuel Charles Broughton (1878). In 1953 she was living at the "Beaulieu Guest House", 11 Sea Road, Felixstowe. She died in the Ipswich district in 1983, aged 79.
