Maria Ead Garrould was the daughter of William James Garrould (1815) and Ann Gibbs and was born in Ditchingham in 1860. In 1861 she was living on the Heath, Ditchingham. In 1881 she was living with her parents at the bakery in Ditchingham. In 1891 she was working as a confectioner's assistant at her brother's bakery in Ditchingham. In 1901 she was living with her widowed sister Ann and brother William at 62 Mill Road, Gorleston. She was an assistant in William's bakery business. In 1911, the same household, together with Ann’s daughter Georgeanna, was living at 41 Gatacre Road, Great Yarmouth.
