Robert Broughton was born in Edgefield in 1727 and was christened there on 13th September 1738. He was the son of Robert Broughton (b.1693) and Ann Sandling. He married Margaret Middleton at Edgefield on 13th October 1745. He died in Edgefield on 6th June 1803.
