Pleasance Broughton was born in Edgefield on 20th June 1869. In 1871 she was living in the Street, Marsham. In 1881 she was living in White Horse Common, North Walsham. In 1891 she was working as a domestic servant in the household of auctioneer William Spelman at Bradestone House, Brundall. In 1901 she was a house and parlour maid in the household of solicitor Peter Hansell at Wroxham House, Wroxham. She married Herbert Charles Read in Smallburgh RD in 1904. In 1911 she was living in Church Cottage, Wroxham. In 1939 she was still living in Church Cottage.
