Basil Broughton was born on 15th April 1925 in Pakefield and was the son of Sidney Broughton (1882) and Emma Edith Flowers. He lived with his parents in Pakefield until 1938 when the family moved to Nuneaton. He married Marjorie Maud Bowerman on 23rd October 1948 at St. Mary's Abbey, Nuneaton. Basil and Marjorie had several children - not yet included in this history.
