Frederick Winward was born in Westhoughton in 1883 and was the son of John Winward (1848) and Ann Mangnall. In 1891 he was aged 8 and was living at 2 Lime or Lane Street, Westhoughton. In 1901 he was aged 18, was living at 4 Derwent Road in Bolton, and was working as an apprentice mill mechanic. In 1911 he was living at 7 Blackwood Street, Great Lever, Bolton, and working as a mechanic in a cotton mill. He married Fanny Addis in the Bolton RD in 1916. Frederick died on September 20th, 1964, aged 81 and was buried in the graveyard of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Westhoughton..
