Betty Silcock was born 1809 in Westhoughton and christened on 2nd July. She was the daughter of Peter Silcock (1780) and Ann Hodkinson. She married Thomas Winward (1806) on 2nd March 1829 at Westhoughton. In 1841 she was living in Winwick Lane, Warrington. Thomas and at least two of the children emigrated to Illinois in 1842. Betty stayed in England, for she died on 25th August 1864 in West Bolton.
