Richard Mangnall was the son of William Mangnall (1762) and Ann Harrison, and was christened in Westhoughton on 4th September 1791. In 1841 a Richard Mangnall was listed as a farmer at Stone House, Hindley. His wife was listed as Alice. In 1851, a Richard Mangnall, Widower, was listed as an agricultural labourer in Hindley Green. In 1861 he was working as a farm labourer, and was living on the farm of his uncle John Harrison - brother to his mother Ann Harrison (1762).
