Emily Insker was the daughter of Samuel Insker (1878) and Mary Goode, and was born in Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, in 1903. She married a man called Dolf Kettle, and they had a daughter called Dorothy Joan. In 1911 she was living at 52 Oldbury Road, Black Heath, Birmingham, and was at school.
