Notes for Robert Ainscough
Robert Ainscough was the son of William Ainscough (1816) and Fanny Holding. In 1861 he was working a drawer in a coal mine and was living at Farm House in Blackrod. In 1871 he was working as a collier and was lodging with his elder brother William in Cock Tavern Yard, Blackrod. He married Elizabeth Winnard around 1880. In 1881 he was working as a colliery engine winder driver and was living at 14 Regent Street in Pemberton. In 1891 he was living in Plank Lane, Atherton. In 1901 he was the landlord of the George & Dragon public house - the listed as being in Northumberland Street, Wigan. In 1911 he was still landlord of the George & Dragon - but this was listed as being at 33 Whelley, Wigan - and he was a widower, living with daughter Fanny.
