John Broughton, born in 1809 in Spixworth, moved to Norwich in the late 1850s or early 1860s. After his first wife, Mary died, he married Augusta Bailey.

He died, at the age of 83, at 5 Silver Street in Norwich St. Paul, pictured on the left. His son Lemuel Broughton, a basket maker, was with him when he died.
